ISSUE

  • A 2014-batch IAS officer of the Haryana cadre resigned on Monday, citing “personal safety on government duty” as the reason for it.
  • The Opposition Congress termed her resignation ”shocking”, asking Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar if it was not a “proof of his failure”.
  • Rani Nagar (35) currently held the charge of the director, Archives Department; and the additional director, social justice and empowerment.
  • Recently, Ms Nagar had posted on her Facebook page that she will resign after the coronavirus lockdown was lifted.

RESPONSES

  • The Haryana government Thursday refused to accept the resignation of 2014-batch woman IAS officer who had resigned three days ago citing “personal safety on government duty” as the reason.
  • Rani Nagar, the alleged perpetrator, 1984-batch officer S.K. Gulati, was posted last month.
  • Gulati has denied the charges, saying Nagar seemed to be “under some stress” and was complaining because she had “willfully disobeyed” his orders about attending meetings. He said he had called the state chief secretary and informed him about the issue and was ready to face any investigation
